a little about gary

Gary L Johnson was born and raised in Northamptonshire and first started performing at a very young age at the local theatres. Gary started life in his local youth theatre before working professionally on a number of Christmas productions (one in which his voice broke just before the run began - but even at a young age he knew the show had to go on...) Following a fun beginning, he continued acting in professional, youth theatre and community playing everything from a creepy butcher and the Mad Hatter to a lovable Tiny Tim in A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Gary's passion and dedication to performing transformed over the years into an interest and then a love for not only acting and singing but directing, presenting, stage management and writing. Gary was lucky enough to gain many opportunities to work in many different areas as well as continuing his acting career.

In 2010 Gary went off to train in Musical Theatre in Leicester and while studying the course he was lucky enough to perform and present in a number of events including performing as Edna in HAIRSPRAY and then presenting the cities CHARITY BALL.

After completing his training Gary returned to Northamptonshire starting as a professional stage manager then going onto the Youth Theatre Director at THE CASTLE THEATRE, WELLINGBOROUGH. Gary is very proud to be able to continue his acting and presenting while being able to help young people learn skills and techniques that will help them grow as a performer over the years.

More recently Gary has taken to the stage in a number of PANTOS and FAMILY SHOWS including THE WIZARD OF OZ, CINDERELLA and PINOCCHIO. 2019 also saw Gary join Blackpool promotions as one of the star Cabaret compares.

Gary has been proud to be working with ALTON TOWERS (MERLIN ENTERTAINMENTS) at serval events through the season.

Finally Gary is a strong charity raiser and has used his theatre skills to help raise money for a number of charities including DONNA'S DREAM HOUSE in Blackpool. His charity work helped win him a PRINCESS DIANA AWARD.

Gary hopes to keep entertaining people throughout his life and hopes that everyone will be able to enjoy his performances on stage or indeed help others to achieve their best on stage...
