Gary L Johnson from Northamptonshire, began his artistic journey at a tender age, captivating audiences at local theatres. He kick-started his career in youth theatre, quickly transitioning to training in musical theatre before reaching his goal - working professional on stage around the UK.
Before stepping into the spotlight Gary immersed himself in the world of theatre, mastering the essential skills and roles needed backstage His dedication led him to work as a professional Stage Manager, a Deputy Stage Manager (DSM), and, as an Assistant Director. Each role enriched his understanding of the theatrical process prepared him for future work. Within this time Gary became the YOUTH THEATRE DIRECTOR at CASTLE THEATRE - leading the next generations of stars to take to the stage. Many of which who are now working professionally themselves.
Gary’s journey to becoming a full-time professional actor has been nothing short of inspiring. After countless auditions and relentless hard work, he the coveted role of the Lion in THE WIZARD OF OZ. Alongside this achievement, he proudly opened GLJ THEATRE, a venture that has flourished for over a decade. Since making the leap to professional acting, Gary has captivated audiences across the country, establishing himself as one of the premier live event hosts, with memorable performances in Blackpool and the Alton Towers Resort.
Gary is widely recognized as one of the best DAME pantomime performers in the industry, bringing joy and laughter to many theatres. He's now the resident dame at CASTLE THEATRE, WELLINGBOROUGH his home venue.
He is thrilled to be a part of this enchanting world and now also serves as the face of the PANTO ARCHIVE, engaging with many remarkable personalities from the pantomime community.

Gary is not just a hit on stage he's also been in a number of screen projects including adverts, 360 VR experiences and his voice has even been heard in voice over projects and shows.
