GLJ School Workshops
We’re proud to be offering BRAND NEW workshops programme for primary and secondary schools from September 2025!
We understand how important it is for the young people to have experiences within the arts and how hard it is to find an age-appropriate practitioner to deliver these workshops.
GLJ Theatre can welcome our Artistic Director GARY L JOHNSON (as seen across the UK in live theatre shows and events) into your school to deliver a special spectacular workshop.
These brand new workshops have been crafted to make theatre education fun and inspiring.

GLJ THEATRE has designed these four brand new workshops to be variable and to be abled to change for KS1, KS2, KS3 and even KS4 students.
WORKSHOP 1
PRESENTING PHYSICAL THEATRE
Back in 2016 GLJ THEATRE visited the worlds largest theatre festival and took with it a little show called PLAIN AS PAPER – A physical theatre show that went through history using just paper and physical theatre to tell stories. Now GLJ THEATRE are bringing the techniques from this hit show to your school and exploring how we can tell stories with no words. With a mixtures of games and activities join GLJ THEATRE as they explore the world of physical theatre and let you train for a mini physical theatre performance.
WORKSHOP 2
CREATING CRAZY CHARACTERS
The best thing about theatre is letting the imagination go free and create characters that could only be seen on stage. However, every character must start life as an idea – GLJ Theatre will share trade secretes with how these characters are created and let students get practical and create their own crazy characters. With costumes, games and more to help make this a magical theatre experience, this is a workshop you’re not going to want to miss.
STAR STORYTELLING
Everyone can tell a story but in theatre we love telling stories in different ways. Within this workshop GLJ THEATRE will help your students discover storytelling in groups, as an individual and even as a whole class. Using specially designed exercises, games and theatrical props we will make everyone a storyteller with an added piece of glam.
WORKSHOP 3
SCRIPT WRITING
Every great show normally started many, many months (even years ago) with a simple script. An idea from someone’s mind – in this workshop we will bring writing exercises and practical games into the class room to start those ideas into a brand-new show. Learn how to write a script and what elements are needed for every actor and director when reading a fresh play. Within this workshop students will work in partners, small groups and even as an individual GLJ THEATRE will help spark every young people in the world of script writing.
WORKSHOP 4
GLJ THEATRE has designed these four brand new workshops to be variable and to be abled to change for KS1, KS2, KS3 and even KS4 students. Each workshop is designed to be one hour long (but can be made shorter and longer if requested). Schools can request one of our workshops or multiple within a day.

All of our team members are DBS checked and registered NNC Chaperones. Copies can be shared upon request.

How to book?

Now you've chosen what group to join. Go onto the GLJ EVENTS page and click the session you want to follow the details to make a payment.
If you would like a payment plan please select PAY IN PERSON.

Make sure you include all information that is requested as we will use your e-mail to contact you with a form and information letter on what we need for the new term.
We will need some ID details for performances licences for some groups. This is for NNC (performance licences).

Please return your forms and any items we have requested to glj@glamishall.org.uk we will then add you to our e-mail group and Whatsapp session group.

Gary L Johnson opened GLJ THEATRE in September 2015 and the company has grown ever since. GLJ THEATRE loves to discover and create theatre through a fun and relaxed environment where everyone is welcome to become creative!
Gary himself was a member of his local youth theatre and theatre company (at The Castle, Theatre) before moving on to train professionally.
Gary said “The best way to learn the key skills of acting / theatre is by taking part in group exercises and playing lots and lots of fun games! It just makes everyone relax and get along very quickly… After the group has relaxed the young people pick up the important theatre techniques
very quickly."
Gary along with the help of GLAMIS HALL have made all sessions affordable for everyone (and we have plenty of packages to continue to support through your GLJ adventure)
