Gary L Johnson
Artistic Director
Gary was born and raised in Northamptonshire and started performing at a very young age in the local youth theatre. Since then, Gary has been lucky enough to be involved in many productions across the UK including; Prince Herbert in SPAMALOT, Jesus in GODSPELL and The Mad Hatter in ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Previous Pantomime credits include: The Lion in THE WIZARD OF OZ (Castle Theatre, Wellingborough), Dandini in CINDERELLA (Castle Theatre, Wellingborough and Shaw Theatre London), Friar Tuck in ROBIN HOOD (Merlin Entertainments), Window Twankey in ALADDIN (Sundial Theatre, Cirencester) and most recently as Nurse Nelly in RAPUNZEL (Midlands Tour), and then SLEEPING BEAUTY with FIVE STAR THEATRE.
Gary is also no stranger to hosting some of the largest events around the UK. These include BLACKPOOL PROMOTIONS, THE LEICESTER CITY SUPPORTERS CLUBS PLAYER OF THE YEAR and OKTOBERFEST (Alton Towers Resort). Gary also worked with BBC NEWS: THE VICTORIA DERBYSHIRE SHOW on weekly vlogs relating to LEICESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB (when Leicester City won the premier league). In 2015 Gary opened his own company GLJ THEATRE which took a highly rated production to the 2016 EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL.
Gary proudly won the PRINCESS DIANA AWARD for his charity work and entertainment work in 2010.
Laura Johnson
Assistant Director
From a young age Laura has been a part of the creation of drama, whether that has been as an actor or behind the scenes creating the sounds, lights, costumes or props. Laura started by being involved with her local theatre company, where she stayed for a number of years.
Productions included “Just by Ali Smith” and “Under the hood”.
More recently Laura has taken up a leading and assisting role with Gary. Laura was also lucky to be involved with the National Theatre Connections as the Company Stage Manager for The Castle Theatres 2015 production. Laura has now returned to the theatre world with
GLJ THEATRE performing in the 2016 production PLAIN AS PAPER and becoming the stage manager for ALICE THE MUSICAL in 2017.
In 2018 she joined Enchanted Entertainments as the Rehearsal Stage Manager for Cinderella.
Sarah Dorling

Sarah has been a member of the GLJ Theatre team for over a year now - helping us create the 2021 PLAY IN A WEEK - THE SNOW QUEEN and then once again in 2022 with ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Since then she's been helping us create a number of shows including MATILDA and TUESDAY (part if National Theatre Connections) where she called the show at The Royal Theatre, Northampton.
Alison Loveder
Company Assistant
Alison has been working with GLJ Theatre since it opened back in 2015. Before then she was leading arts and crafts workshops with THE CASTLE THEATRE (part of the holidays participation team). Now she's one of our company assistants who helps with lots of things behind the scenes including books, costumes and more...
She's also one of our fantastic volunteer chaperones.
